Frequently Asked Questions

Disaster Restoration

Q: Several rooms in my home have suffered damage from a disaster. Can you walk me through your preliminary plans to satisfy my insurance company?

A: Most insurance policies state the following: “The insured is responsible for taking and reasonable and prudent steps necessary to preserve, protect and secure the structure and contents form further damage.” J. Brian Day’s initial efforts will be to “contain” the damage; to preserve, protect and secure your property and possessions form any further damage or exposure to hazards, weather, or vandals.

These steps may need to be completed even before an adjuster has an opportunity to survey your damage.

Q: Do you deal directly with my insurance agent or insurance adjuster?

A: We complete a damage estimate and act as a liaison with your insurance agent or public adjuster to confirm the coverage and payment. We work hard to ensure that your property will be restored to its pre-disaster condition. Written estimates are submitted and approved prior to any restoration.

Q: Do you get involved in speeding up the processing of my claim?

A: We deal directly with your insurance agent or public adjustor: We direct bill to them. As experienced experts in disaster recovery, you can expect timely recovery of your loss when a disaster strikes.

Q: My finished basement has been flooded. What can you do to save my furnishings and carpeting?

A: Speed is most important! We respond quickly – day or night. When your water source has been eliminated, professional extraction must begin immediately to prevent health hazards and further damage. Restorative drying will be completed including the application of a mildewcide treatment.

Q: What kind of equipment can I expect you’ll bring in for my personal disaster?

A: Our equipment includes large commercial dehumidifiers, air movers, and air scrubbers with HEPA filters.

HEPA Air Filters are able to prevent the further circulation of dust, pollen, mold spores and bacteria. These filters have become an increasingly important feature in any environment where people suffer from asthma or allergies of any sort.

Q: Our office building is substantial in size. Are you equipped to handle the damage?

A: Our professionals are capable of handling over 100,000 square feet of damage.
